The Harborcreek Historical Society moved into the Gifford-Blanchfield House in March 2017.

Harborcreek Township is located in Erie County in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania.  Incorporated in 1803, it encompasses 34 square miles and includes seven miles of Lake Erie frontage.

The Harborcreek Historical Society is a 501c3 non-profit organization created to promote local history. With the help of the community, the Society safeguards and preserves history, artifacts, and memories of Harborcreek’s past. You’re invited to browse our displays, join us for programs and events, and use the archives for family and local history research.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:

Harborcreek Township Big Truck Day, Saturday, May 18, 2024 10 am – 1 pm at the Municipal Building: Kids will have the opportunity to see construction and law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, and much more! You can also help “Fill the Front loader” in support of the Ella Cochran Food Pantry. Bring non-perishable food items and place them in the front loader for those in need in our community. Food available from Brady’s Chuckwagon.

Finding History in Harborcreek Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 6:30 pm at the Harborcreek Historical Society: The collections and resources available at the Harborcreek Historical Society focus primarily on Harborcreek Township and include information on local families, farms, businesses, churches, schools, and more. In this presentation, we will highlight the materials and stories found at the Harborcreek Historical Society and their usefulness to researchers and genealogists alike.

Erie Society for Genealogical Research Family History Fair Sunday, June 9, 2024 1:00-4:00 pm: The Harborcreek Historical Society will have a booth – come see us!

Keep It in the Creek Week – Celebrate Harborcreek History Saturday, July 20, 2024: The week-long celebration of Harborcreek ends with a celebration of Harborcreek history. The Society is hosting a community scanning day 10 am – 2 pm. Members of the community are welcome to bring in photographs and documents relating to Harborcreek families, farms, businesses, landscape, parks, schools, etc. and Society volunteers will digitally scan materials while they wait. Participants will leave with their original materials, as well as digitized copies of them, and with participant permission, digital files will be added to the Society’s permanent collection.
